Old Town Psychological Services was established as a private company in Traverse City, MI in 1993. The founders are a father and son team who are first and second generation psychologists. Old Town Psychological Services has always operated as a clinic rather than a one-person office. This ensures that a multitude of resources are available including a variety of psychological services and a diversified staff of qualified clinicians. The organization has taken the name of the historic district in downtown Traverse City where the corporate headquarters is located. A great deal of pride is taken in our locations, which has been carefully chosen and designed to make our clients feel welcome and comfortable. This type of attention to detail illustrates our concern for our clients.
The company has always been operated with a special dedication to the field of psychology itself. We are committed to providing highly qualified professional services that are based on scientifically valid and reliable approaches. Our services are specifically designed to help individuals achieve to their full potential. To this end, we have created a unique set of services that are primarily focused on developing an individuals skills and abilities by enhancing previously existing positive traits/attributes and by eliminating or reducing deficits present in their psychological profile.
Old Town Psychological Services is operated as a clinic, which ensures that many special and unique services are available. A significant strength of this organization is the availability of multiple staff members with an array of diverse interests and specialties.
Some of our special programs include bariatric evaluation and treatment, individual and group treatment for veterans with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, group and individual evaluation/treatment services to local court systems, forensic disability evaluations, ADHD evaluation and treatment, evaluation for academic deficiencies and learning disorders, psychological custody evaluations and and couples and family counseling. Other special programs include practicum/internship placements for psychology students and supervision services for master’s level psychologists and clinicians.
Old Town Psychological Services is pleased to have opened an additional location in Gaylord, Michigan. We have a long history of providing services to the people of Northern Lower Michigan mainly in the Grand Traverse area. For many years some of our clients have traveled from more remote locations such as Gaylord, Petoskey, Cheboygan, Roscommon, Alpena, Houghton Lake, St. Ignace, etc.
We feel that our highly professional and specialized psychological services are valuable and will be of benefit to more families and individuals in Upper and Lower Michigan by providing more accessible clinic locations.
